一昨年からのCOVID-19ウイルスの世界的流行が止まらない。感染者は2021年7月下旬となり感染者は世界で二億人に迫る勢いだ。変異株もどんどん増えて、五輪によるパンデミック変異株の出現も懸念されている。米英のワクチン開発企業が接種争奪合戦を繰り広げてはいるが、安全と有効性のしっかりした指標を示せないまま、見切り発車的な戦略を推し進める余り、接種での副反応や身体への影響をおよぼす事態が続いている。ドイツ当局ではアストラゼネカのワクチンが65歳以上への接種を禁止した。モデルナ、ファイザー、アストラゼネカなどの主要開発会社は相当な投資をして緊急時での接種で注目されてはいるが、COVID-19の変異種までの特効薬的なカバーがどこまで可能なのかは、あと数年待たなければならない。日本政府は海外からのワクチンの契約を済ませているが、安全性や効果の検証は先送りされていくだろう。クワクチンの国内への供給不足でも政府は詭弁的な言い回しで逃げ回っている。これが今の日本の偽らざる姿だと世界は見ている。ワクチン接種後の地獄絵図は誰も見たくはない。有史以来、人類が社会生活を構築するためには動物の狩猟や家畜化が必要になった。その反面、動物間での感染症が発生し、人類はウイルスとの共生を余儀なくされたが、それは今でも続いていることだけは確かだ。私達人類が叡智を集めてワクチン（抗体）を人為的に作っても、ウイルスには永年の人類への対抗措置を持っているように思える。いまから4万年位前に地中海を中心とするネアンデルタール人が突如として姿を消し、クロマニヨン人（アングロサクソン、ゲルマンの基）という現代人の先祖にDNAが引き継がれたが、ウイルスもまた人間のDNAに寄生して現代にまで進化して生き延びてきたに違いない。あくまでこれは勝手な想像だが、人類が早急なワクチン接種に勤しんでもキリが無い。特効薬の開発促進と個々の自然免疫力を強力に推し進めて行くことも大事なことだと考える。特に日本はオリンピックが間近に控えており、開催までの調整がものすごくむずかしい。世論では中止・延期論が大半を占めてはいるが、もしそうなったら個人個人の生活に多大な影響が生じ、自分だけは大丈夫と思ってはいけない。中国や北朝鮮の独裁国家だったら個人の自由を制限すれば簡単にウイルス感染は一時的に制御可能だろうが、そう長くは続かない。自由主義経済圏においては、全て自己責任という命題があるということは肝に銘じておくべきだ。緊急事態宣言がでているにも関わらず、会食や銀座のバー通いが辞められない議員や役人が後を絶たないのは誠に残念だ。国のリーダー自らが日々会食三昧というのだから、庶民は自粛要請に反発するのは自明の理だ。特に飲食店業界・旅行業界・観光業界・イベント業界などは窮地に立たされている。流血沙汰はあってはならないことだが、もしこれが226事件での青年将校からすればその方達は今の日本の現状をどう見るだろうか。それが、令和維新という歴史的な帝都不肖事件にならないとも限らない。世界の世論はコロナ感染の状況からIOCはWHOの指針を受け、五輪は延期や中止という運びになると予測されていたが、とうとう2021年7月22日となりコロナ感染再拡大での強行開催ということになった。IOCの収益は五輪の放映権料が大部分を占めている。最大のスポンサーである米国NBCTV局は史上最高の視聴率と豪語している。余りにも商業主義に偏ったIOCの正体も全世界が目にすることとなり、五輪のメダルブランドも地に墜ちてしまった。電通主導の五輪マーケティングスタイルが数え切れない位の不祥事と不条理をさらけ出した。今さら2020年の五輪は招致するべきではなかったと言っても後の祭りだが、感染拡大のピークと五輪強行開催の影響がこの先どうなるのか誰も知る由がない。感染ゼロと犠牲者ゼロを切に祈りながら私たちは推移を見守り、歴史の証言者として事にあたる後世への責任がある。
